Dear Parents,
How often has you child been ill and you have struggled with
the question of calling your doctor. Those middle of the night phone calls are often hard
to make, but you would not want to avoid calling if your child could be seriously ill.
Sometimes, concerns that come up after-hours may seem important and yet when we do end up
talking to the doctor, we find that it is something normal that happens in the course of
the illness.
Many books are out there to help, but the information does
not always help you with your decision to call the doctor. This site is organized to help
you make that decision. It also gives you information about home treatments that may be
used. Also be assured that we will update this site regularly and add new topics as we
receive feedback from you and
the doctors who sign up.
Perhaps, you are at work and you have Internet access and
your baby-sitter calls you with a concern. You probably do not have your books with you,
but you can use the Call Your Pediatrician Web site. Imagine that you can click on a photo
of a rash and see it on your computer. If your doctor signs up for E-mail service, you
could E-mail a non-urgent question or address a billing or insurance concern, instead of
being put on hold.
Your doctor or clinic must sign up for the service with a
registration fee and monthly fee and they will obtain a permanent password for their
patients. The patients will receive the information free. If you like what you see on our sample pages and would like to encourage
your doctor to sign up for our service, copy a few sample illness pages and the letter to
the doctors. We can give them a
temporary password to see the whole Web site. Photographs of common rashes will be added
soon. We can also build a personal Web site for your doctor or clinic and set them up with
an E-mail service.
We will be adding new information and updating this site
regularly, so please check back in with us!
